Caption: A look from inside Canadian Pacific's Orangeville Yard on a slightly overcast day in September 1973 shows a bit of equipment lingering around. This view is looking north to Town Line, showing a pair of CP SW1200RS "BLU" (Branch Line Units) parked near the old bunkhouse, with part of the station visible further back. A few cars sit in the yard, with the red ends of a flanger car visible on its own. The switch to the Clorox plant siding is visible in the foreground.
At the time there were still numerous branchlines radiating from the Orangeville area to the north and west. Over time as those branchlines were abandoned, Orangeville's importance as a junction point diminished. It had about a two-decade reprieve when the Orangeville Brampton Railway acquired the line from CP in 2000, but finally succumbed to economic and political pressure at the end of 2021 when service on the whole remaining line from Streetsville to Orangeville was ended.
