Caption: CN train 511 is ready to depart CN’s London East Yard with quite a consist that was not typical of the time for the London-Sarnia turn. The unit’s included CN GP9RM’s 4100, 4115, GP40-2L(W)’s 9608, 9569, 9453 and brand new Burlington Northern SD70MAC 9526. The day prior on February 16, 1995 CN train 272 had collided with the rear of stationary train 308 at Mile 4.2 of the Strathroy Subdivision in London, Ontario at CN Hyde Park. The resulting derailment and clean-up had closed the line until the following day and the three GP40-2L(W)’s were likely being taken to Sarnia to assist with motive power needs following the incident. BN 9526 was just released from the GMDD facility in London and was heading for interchange with BN in Chicago, Illinois.
