CP Rail 8142 to Black River & Western in 1999. Most RS-18 rebuilt in the 1800 series 1980 to 1989.


Note the fuel storage in the background, the furnace oil tank for the crew shanty and the vertical fuel tank behind the van.

  1. A great photo that brings back memories. The MLW switcher in the background is most likely S-3 6589 or 6590. I don’t recall ever seeing a 7000 series at Woodstock. The preferred position for units posted at Woodstock was to have thew face east. Most times you see them facing that way.

  2. Tri-X (400-ISO) is a very versatile film. As demonstrated in this image, it can be ideal for capturing the gritty nature of railroading. Well done, Sir!
