Caption: Algoma Central Railway GP7's 154 and 150, leased by CP Rail for a few months in 1978-79, handle CP's Cobourg Turn from Toronto as they switch cuts of cars in the small yard west of Ritson Road South in Oshawa.
It's hard to make out, but CN's former Oshawa Railway line runs north across the top of the image, perpendicular to CP's line (and crossing it at a diamond). The small CP yard here served as the interchange between CP and CN, that helped feed boxcars full of auto parts coming off CP to the GM automotive assembly plants in the north end of the city along the Oshawa Railway switched by CN (there was a CN restriction that didn't permit cars longer than 52'6" unless authorized, and 60' cars permitted for only a few sidings). 50' boxcars from Santa Fe, Southern, DT&I, N&W, CP, CP and C&O/B&O are visible, likely carrying automotive components originating at assembly plants in different parts of North America.
