Westward and northward from Prince Albert, Canadian Pacific reached Meadow Lake via 60.3 miles of several joint trackage sections on Canadian National lines before reaching home road rails near Debden at Tobey, then continued through forested areas to Leoville. Following that line via “interesting“ secondary roads one evening gained me this view of westward Meadow Lake train No. 97 with lightweight RS-23s CP 8018 + 8016 + 8014 in traditional elephant style (found to work best for radiator air flow) by the elevators at Leoville at 1925 CST, still with fifty-nine rail miles to go to reach Meadow Lake.

  1. Amazing photo! I used to watch the trains go through leoville as a kid in that exact same spot! Too bad the last train to travel this line was back in April of 2009.
