I think one of the biggest lessons this hobby has taught me over the years is never take for granted what you have today as it may be gone tomorrow. Lining up this shot at Paris West I was hoping a new VIA Siemens set would be in charge of train 73. In hindsight now I’m thankful for the well weather P52 and old stainless steel cars passing under the old signal bridge equipped with a nice set of searchlight signals. The years are passing quickly and soon so much of this will be gone for good. Take it in now as you never know what tomorrow will bring. CN 583 was waiting on the passage of 73 so they could change tracks due to an approaching eastbound.

  1. Nicely captured.

  2. Nice catch!

  3. Good show !!! You are certainly right about how everything just sorta ‘moves into a new era’ trackside as soon as you turn your head. It certainly feels like that. That ugly VIA loco reminds me of how tired we used to get of Tempo engines. Shoot and enjoy. You got it right.

  4. not sure how many people would miss those ex GATX geeps if they were gone tomorrow though… lol

  5. I used to see “blue GATX” on the D&H some years ago that seemed to have bred like rabbits. Couldn’t stand them.
