Caption: Heading for Edmonton’s ex NAR Dunvegan Yards on its second day of travel from Waterways, a Mixed Extra South with CN 1078 + 1080 (ex NAR 303) + 1072 (ex NAR 311, nee CN 1072) is crossing the timber trestle over the Sturgeon River at mileage 9.7 on Wednesday 1981-09-30 at 1232 MDT.
Until the end of 1980, this was Northern Alberta Railways’ Edmonton sub., logically renamed to the CN Westlock sub. when they took over. Somewhat to my surprise, aside from renumbering NAR locomotives to the CN plan, the NAR diamond symbol and name and unit names (Bishop Grouard and Twelve Foot Davis) were left intact in the first CN year.
