Caption: Early worm gets the bird: it's 7:15am, and GO Transit F59PH 541 glints in the morning sun as it pushes its consist out of Union Station. Having come in on Lakeshore East train #425 westbound from Oshawa (6:12-7:12am), it's now operating as equipment move 456 deadheading west empty, to begin train #456's eastbound run on the Lakeshore Line from Oakville station back to Union (7:58-8:21am).
The train has just departed the Union Station train shed, and is ducking under the Metro Convention Centre's pedestrian bridge on the approach to John St. interlocking tower. On the right is the "fence track", used for parking business cars, special passenger equipment and maintenance equipment. Back in the day, railroad executives often parked their private business cars here if they were going into town or staying at the Royal York Hotel nearby.

I miss the days when that open air corridor under the walkway was accessible.
I often used to see employees up there on their breaks, but was never able to get up there.
