I posted a shot of this train in the CN yard about 6 years ago, but just found this image which is quite nice. In what apparently was a rare move, C&O 3584 and freshly minted WM 4355 are seen just coming into Canada, with the tail end still on the double decked Whirlpool Bridge. This train usually crosses at Fort Erie and I have no concrete idea why it was in Niagara Falls this day. It terminated at the CN yard about a mile along.
On the left is the NF passenger station; it looks like it just went thru a bit of renovation. Flag poles are up, but as yet no flags.
A very quiet looking but nice warm early March morning.

  1. Geez….nothing like today….although that it appears you’re right Arnold. Station seems to have just gone through typical renovation for that time. Fresh grey paint, nice black shingled roof…flagpoles installed. My era of memories as a 2 year old in 1979….!

  2. A great shot.

  3. Orange balls and a white fleet boarding car in the yard. Nice! :-)
