The little railway that could! I didnt even know of the TH&B and its history until I read the book “In The Shadow Of Giants”. Always welcome to see old ‘in operation’ photos, with power and cars painted in the livery.
Another very rare shot…great capture
This is great. This is the brief period between April 30 1985, when CN/CP took over the CASO, and they handed the Niagara section to the TH&B who was still independent. By 1987 CP took over the TH&B and took away the Independence and completely restructured operations. Basically, the brief period when TH&B operated the Canada Southern/NYC/PC/CR track and all locals on former CASO tracks.
Also in the distance, you can see the signal for CP PETTIT which is the same location as Arnold’s shot of the CP RDC’s posted the other day.
According to the 1987 CP Timetable #41 dated June 7 1987, the Fort Erie sub was CTC for over 11 miles from Pettit and only *15 mph*. 15 mph CTC. What a waste!
