Caption: An eastbound CP train is viewed approaching the Komoka (Melrose) diamond crossing on the Windsor Subdivision, with the CN Strathroy Subdivision, situated west of London, Ontario. The consist included GP38-2 3030 and GP35 5012. At the time, the entire fleet of CP GP35’s was assigned to Western Canada and one straying this far east was very un-common. In August 1996 GP35 5012 was released from CP’s Weston Shops after conversion to control cab-daughter slug 1125. It was mated with GP38-2 ‘mother’ 3035 and assigned to Winnipeg. It was ultimately retired in October 2012.
