Caption: A pair of EMD SD38-2s, BC Hydro 384 and 382, brought a regular westward Valley Freight down Scott Hill and paused at the interlocking signal for the Fraser River Bridge to cross into New Westminster on Sunday 1982-05-09 at 1802 PDT, as seen here from the Patullo highway bridge sidewalk (ear plugs very handy for reducing road traffic noise).

This view was lucky timing for me, as twenty days later on 1982-05-26, a major fire involving the swing span of that Fraser River railway bridge completely disrupted local railway operations on BCH, CN, CP, VIA, and Amtrak, providing many photo opportunities when all rail traffic was detoured via a bridge from Mission City to Matsqui.
