Caption: Blenheim Blues. Ever since moving back to southern Ontario, catching CN down the old Chessie in Blenheim has been high on my list. Life freed up in July, however CN would fail to visit the town that was once a vital point for the former owner of the line for four weeks. Things picked up again in August when they began operating on a slightly different schedule before returning to their regularly scheduled program. This past Thursday freed up and I decided to venture down to Chatham to try my chance of them servicing the former CSX subdivision.

Much to my surprise (dismay) there was a BNSF GP38-2 sitting in the "yard" at Chatham with a couple of cuts of cars sitting the yard. The crew dug out their cars for their tour which ended up being 10 cars for Thamesville which they'd run to first- greatly diminishing any chance of shooting them on the old Chessie. Fortunately, their work in Thamesville was light and they were back in Chatham with a lone hopper and heading down the Sarnia Spur by 1800. A brief stop to set off their lone hopper in Chatham along with gons used for tie cars meant a light power move south to Blenheim, which afforded shots not anticipated. Lumbering along at 10 mph tested limits for shooting upon their arrival in Blenheim as the sun set beyond the horizon. Here, during the "Blue Hour" I put forth my very last frame of the evening as the crew separate from 5 cars that were unable to be spotted from last weeks run before returning north to Chatham with 15 cars. It's honestly amazing CN continues service down here these days.
