Caption: West of Edmonton, CN utilizes portions of Canadian Northern and Grand Trunk Pacific lines dating from the nineteen-teens railway construction mania that led to Canadian National being created. West of Entrance, CN crossed the Athabasca River on a new (1926) alignment diverging from the GTP route around today’s mileage 190.8 to join the Canadian Northern route on the north side, with the CNoR route visible in this 1987-05-25 view of VIA No. 4 as the road to the right from the third passenger car.
Behind this train are stations Solomon and next Swan Landing, junction with the Alberta Resources Railway north to Grande Prairie.
