Just off the assembly line, Southern Pacific SD70M 9803 is viewed gleaming fresh as its being lifted by a westbound at CP’s Quebec Street yard in London, Ontario. SP 9803 was part of a 25 unit order that was manufactured at GMDD’s London plant during June-August 1994. Also coupled to the SP unit was Burlington Northern SD70MAC 9460, which left the GMDD facility in primer for the US.

  1. These units had a clear coat issue. Paint went foggy and they were sent back to GMD who sent them to a firm near Brantford to be repainted With new paint the SP scheme was nice!

  2. Thanks for the information Mike. Yes, I do seem to remember that now that some had to come back to Ontario after they were built.

I wonder if it was Blastech on the Hagersville Sub that did the work on them?

  3. I believe you are correct-Blasteck out in Cainsville as I recall !
