Caption: Peering down the train from the rear platform of buffet-lounge car, "Burrard," Extra CNR 6167 west is getting back underway at mile 145 of the Beachburg subdivision, about halfway between Lake Traverse (mile 140), and Radiant (mile 151) as the UCRS special from Ottawa to North Bay cuts across the wilds of northern Ontario, alongside the Pettawawa River.
The weekend of September 13 - 15, 1963 marked a massive undertaking by the Upper Canada Railway Society, a 692.2 mile excursion from Toronto - Ottawa - North Bay - Temagami - Toronto, with seventeen coaches behind CNR 6167. With the train having run overnight from Toronto - Ottawa on the 13th, the train turned west and departed the nation's capital early on the 14th. 6167 would be removed at North Bay, with ONR FP7s 1521 and 1511 handling the train to Temagami overnight. The consist returned to North Bay on the morning of the 16th, with 6167 taking over once again for the return to Toronto.

How did those overnight trips work, did everyone sleep in their coach seats, were sleeping cars ever included on the train, or were overnight stops coordinated with local motels/hotels before the return trip?
Per the consist listing in the December 1963 UCRS newsletter, 6 sleepers were included in the consist: 3x 22 roomette sleepers (“Val St. Patrice”, “Val Brillant”, “Val Rose”), 3x 4-8-4 sleepers (“Edmonton”, “Emerald“, “Ekhart”), plus sleeper-grill “Whitelaw.”
