Caption: In August 2011, a surveyor looks on as VIA 84 eases towards its station stop at Kitchener with VIA 6408 in a Coors Light wrap. This location is now Kitchener West, where the Guelph Sub crosses King St. and is the junction with the Huron Park Spur (the tracks curving out in the foreground). In this photo, there is evidence of the early stages of redevelopment of this area to its current state, including the staging tracks of the GO trains (at right of photo). Later that year, GO trains would begin running as far west as Kitchener. You can also see the grade of the line towards present day station sign Sturm. It's fascinating how much Kitchener-Waterloo has changed since I was a kid.
