After loosing the MLW’s just months earlier it seemed that things on CP were a little less exciting, little did I know at the time I would actually miss the countless SD40’s years later. At the time I believe trains 512/513 ( I may have the numbers wrong) were the most interesting, often with a mix of CP and I&M Railink power. Of course I preferred the IMRL SD45’s over the SD40’s, but you take what you get. Here westbound 513 climbs the Niagara Escarpment just east of Campbellville with a StL&H leader and IMRL 233 ducking under the well know wooden farm bridge.

  1. Nice consist!

The CP 4-axle MLW’s were still operating at the time of this photo, however their numbers were quickly dwindling down. I shot several of them in May of 1998. By the summer they were all retired.

  2. Very Nice! The IMRL run-through trains were 511/512, so this was likely 511.
