The tail end brakeman was about to give, "that'll do", over the radio. The mixed train was making a stop in Redwater on this evening. There was 35 boy cubs taking a ride from Edmonton to here. In a few minutes, the parking lot was a buzz of excitement as they all de-trained, loudly talking about their ride. In another 15 minutes, all was quiet as they headed back home to Edmonton. What kid doesn't like a train ride? :^) Photo taken at 20:00. Talked with the tail end brakeman for a few minutes afterwards, he was just as revved up as the kids.

  1. I’ve heard of boy scouts, never boy cubs. Sorry about the mistake. Just cubs will work fine in this instance.

  2. What an exciting time that must have been for those Cubs! “Akela We will do our best!” :-)

  3. I agree completely, what a fantastic idea for a cub outing. The ride across the big wooden trestle that crosses the Sturgeon river near Gibbons would have been a highlight for sure. :-)

  4. As trivia for Passenger car nuts, the baggage car started life in the early 1900′s as a Pullman “Baggage / Club” designed for service on premier trains in the Northeastern U.S.
