Caption: Riding north in the lead F-unit on CP Rail train #11, "The Canadian" (Toronto-Sudbury leg), the train has stopped at Sheppard (Mile 6.5 CP MacTier Sub) for a meet with the southbound Canadian (#12) inbound to Toronto. CP FP7 4075 and an RS10 lead #12 south, about to cross over Sheppard Avenue underpass. A crewmember hangs out of one of the head-end cars, as another from #11 waits on the overpass to give an ok roll-by inspection.
Since the line north of Emery into Woodbridge and beyond is single track, it's likely the northbound #11 was waiting here for the (late?) southbound #12 to clear. This photo was taken during the final months of The Canadian operating on CP out of Toronto, as after the VIA takeover in September, The Canadian would be rerouted over the CN Bala and Newmarket Subs at end of October 1978.
On the right, a CN gondola is spotted on the siding for Tepsons. Other industries in the Sheppard area at the time included Eaton's large catalogue warehouse, Southam Murray (Printing), Woolworth's warehouse, Dow Chemical, and the North York Hydro spur

Why did I waste these years in High School when I could have been out chasing this? This is glorious.
Great scene. I figured you’d get this slide.
This is great.
