  1. I don’t know when the building was torn down, I feel like I recall seeing it early in my career. Back when we had current of traffic ABS on the double track Galt Sub from Dixie to Guelph Jct, westward trains ran up what is now the north track, and eastward trains on the south track. I was on a westbound train after midnight and we were the first train to head west in several hours. When we rounded the bend & came to where the diamond was, there were 2 straight rusty rails in its place. At first in the headlight, it looked like the diamond was missing. There had been no operating bulletin issued, but the diamond on both tracks had been removed late afternoon the day before & we were the 1st westbound to “break in” the straight rails.

  2. Beautiful image! I have a lot of fond memories photographing CP trains at this spot. Mind you long after the tower and CN line were removed.

  3. A bit of digging shows the diamond was removed sometime in 1973-74, and CP put a switch and short spur to connect to the old CN line heading south, to service the Robertson Screw factory by the CN station site.
