One of my favourite angles on the Halton subdivision, that unfortunately can never be done on a sunny day no matter the time. I’ve always like how this spot retains the old N&NW branchline feel minus the welded rail. I spent a lot of my Railfan youth on the hillside beyond the double stacks with a good group of friends, long before the golf course and steel bridge was here. Back then a farmers crossing was located in the cut allowing the farmer access to his fields split by the rail line. Even with the dormant landscape it is still a nice scene with the big clubhouse and Niagara Escarpment in the distance. This day my youngest son joined me as CN 148 storms upgrade with a pair of SD70M-2’s in the lead. It won’t be long before the golf course is open again and railfans banished from the bridge.

  1. Very nice image and caption. Overcast can really open up possibilities.

  2. I am sure you were out there taking photos as I passed by on the hundreds of trains I operated through Mi 30 Halton Sub. I had no idea that railfans were not allowed on the steel bridge over the tracks?
