Thanks to Joe Bishop for giving everyone who shot it on rp.ca the heads up. Really appreciated.
*POMPF* as I got pelted with snow
Authors note: I was looking through my footage and realized the plow still technically holds the CP reporting marks. CP 401005. Oopsies.
Nice view.
It does? It says ontario southland on the side tho.
Osr bought it from CP around 2020 as it was listed for sale while osr had it in their shop. CP used to come inspect it at the osr shop as it was CP owned… once it was posted it was..oh shit… we better buy it.
It was given a new logo shortly thereafter.
Super photo Isaac,
.
I worked a lot of snowplows on the Woodstock branches in the 1970s & 1980s when I worked for CP. One of the worst places for drifts was right near where the OSR shops are now, at Salford, just a little bit south of the shop location.
One time I was on a plow with two units & we hit the Salford drifts at 50mph & only went about 500 feet & ground to a halt. We backed up about a mile & a half & went at it again before getting through. Another time, we couldn’t get through. After derailing the plow a few times they had to call in a huge front end loader to clean a hole through the drift before we could “fine tune” it. I should note, that trip we continued all the way to Port Burwell.
