Very nice Marcus, is this the bridge over the roadway and rail track that goes under the Welland Canal near Welland ? Am attempting to determine what track GIO 7224 is on, is it the CN track that runs south to the old INCO refinery on the east side of the Welland Canal at Port Colborne ? Thanks for sharing, John
This line runs through welland and St Catherine’s cp Hamilton sub is under the bridge.
track to INCO is on the other side of the tunnel, John. to the east of here at Yager.
Correct however John was there before all that track was relocated and the humberstone began just behind the end of this train (behind the plant) before the ‘third’ welland canal was built. Would have been a diamond with the Cayuga and the humberstone snaked over to inco…. was a busy line too before and after relocation with th&b/cp rights too. (Right ended around 1989)
Studying maps it took me years to figure out how it changed from 1970 to 1974 and the present.
http://www.railpictures.ca/?attachment_id=52610 was on the other side (Dain City) but the train would be crossing the diamond on the other side of the canal. Two railway crossings in half a mile. If you look at google satellite maps on google earth from 1934 there was a nice operators tower located there too.

It’s no wonder the Canal Sub from Welland to Thorold looks so new and modern – basically built after the Halton sub (Milton upgrades) to similar standards.
