Caption: Borrowed CN GP40-2L(W) 9430 leads VIA train #73 westbound through Lynden on CN's Dundas Sub, with VIA F9B 6630 trailing ahead of four of the blue & yellow fleet.
CN's GMD GP40-2L(W) group 9400-9449 were delivered in 1974 with faster 76mph gearing (60:17 gear ratio, instead of 62:17 gearing for regular max 65mph operation like the rest of the fleet). Some speculate this may have been for fast or express freight use. The units occasionally saw passenger service on VIA Rail, usually just one 9400 combined with a steam generator-equipped VIA unit that would provide steam heat to the passenger cars.

The white building to the right houses the radio equipment for the Lynden Engineering Radio Base Station which forms part of the recently completed Dundas/Strathroy Subdivisions Engineering Radio System. The Engineering Radio System provided CN Engineering Departments (Track, Signals, Bridges etc..) with a dedicated radio system.
Great photo, lots to see.
