Caption: The Empress shoves into the South Edmonton Yard, with Edmonton's Skyline providing a beautiful backdrop as the sun sets on Alberta's Capital City. The rails end about a mile north of here, by the old CPR South Edmonton Station, which has since been turned into a restaurant. Known as Strathcona, its a bustling part of the city - however on the railroad side of things, the South Edmonton Yard only sees sporadic service from a local freight and much of the yard has been turned into a Lumber Transload facility.; CPKC's freight trains branch off just south of here towards Lambton Park and Clover Bar Yards.
While South Edmonton is a shadow of its former self, it is not hard to imagine a CPR Passenger train blasting out of the South Edmonton Station, with the skyline in the background as they head south to Calgary.
