CC&F and Pullman-Standard built rolling stock dominated the VIA fleet for the first dozen years, here:
NSC 1955 ish built 96xx series baggage
four CC&F 1954 ish built coaches: two 55xx series coaches, one cafe coach 32xx, one Dayniter 57xx series
three Pullman-Standard 1954 built E series ( #11xx ) sleepers, one in crew service,
13xx series P-S 1947 ish built dining car
23xx series CC&F 1920 ish built Lounge car
and a lone ex CPR Budd 1955 built Manor ( 83xx) series sleeper.
Oh, the head end: two 26 year old GMD's: FP9A #6507 and F9B #6605

That was during the time that the “Super” and the “Canadian” traded sleeping cars at Winnipeg. The “Manor” car will be moved to the “Canadian” there. I rode this train a lot back then between my home in Edmonton and my parent’s home in the Vancouver area.
Great capture Steve! I rode the Super Continental along this route in September of 1988 and again as the Canadian in January of 2018. – Ken
