On a gorgeous autumn afternoon, MPRX 101 is switching cars for the Welded Tube of Canada facility on the Tube Spur in Welland, Ontario viewed near the Highway #140 crossing. This is a cool little operation and not long after the photo the crew was quickly done for the day.

  1. Very good, too bad the crew forgot their headlight. Very common with industrial operations

  2. Thanks Steve.

Ah yes. I can’t remember if they ever had in on while we were there. It’s certainly a neat little operation.

  3. Saw that unit sitting in Southern Yard yesterday.

  4. Working or parked?

It would be strange to be parked there. As far as I know it’s still assigned to OSH.

  5. It appeared to be parked toward the west end of the yard. Too much traffic to stop for a photo.

  6. Was there anything hiding in the usual OSH parking spot? Perhaps they have something else assigned now , or perhaps GIO took it all over?

  7. I didn’t drive by Rusholme Road yesterday, although on August 14th the 108 was sitting inside the fence.

  8. On September 18 2024 MPRX 101 was still sitting at the west end of Southern Yard coupled to a centre beam.

  9. Has it moved? I wonder if they’re parking there now, or if GIO has taken over all switching using 108 instead. Was there anything parked where the used to park by highway 140?

  10. MPRX 101 was sitting in the same spot as last week coupled to the same car. Nothing parked or visible on the west side of Hwy 140 in the morning or afternoon. I didn’t drive by the former Martel site to check on the 108.

  11. That’s telling. Makes me think it’s out of service. there’s also a chance something else was sent to them to be used, i heard a LDS unit was sent down to Welland but not confirmed where it went.

  12. Correction – Looking again at my photo taken earlier at Southern Yard the unit is stenciled CWLX 101.

  13. 101 is at LDS for repairs. It should be going back when completed.

A temporary replacement locomotive is there, A red gp9.

  14. I’ll keep an eye for the replacement unit.
