Watching this train rolling along I said to myself there is a lot more rains than brains standing out here getting drenched. But, as CN 421 approached with this "funeral train"; I could see the monsoon coming, just ahead of the train. I'm standing on 9th Louth bridge, (mile 15, Grimsby sub) in Lincoln; and despite the downpour this train was quite the show.
I stand to be corrected but it appeared to be: CN 8902, 2679 and 2306 the power, and 18 DIT units trailing: 2180, 2444, 2434, 2431, 4620, 2432, 2036, 2402, 4619, 2037, 2005, 2038, 2003, 2008, 2424, 4623, 2019 and that blue x_IC 2462.
Got out on the QEW to head for Niagara Falls but now the rain was so heavy traffic was reduced to a crawl because no one could see squat. Fortunately the train halted at Glenridge for AMTK to go around it, and I was able to shoot again at Mewburn Rd bridge; again, heavy rain....but over at Lundys Lane the rain was so bad it was impossible........camera would not fire anyway.
So, a fun day, all things considered. Hope this image at least gets appreciated. A drowned rat shot it.

I understand these units will be scrapped at Atlas Steel, Welland.

  1. Quick turnaround at Mac: arrived on Wednesday, all out on Saturday. A shame to see all those cowls scrapped.

  2. Nice capture, that was quite the parade of units.

  3. You’re certainly dedicated to getting the shot.

  4. Hello, Eric: Well, I thought I was going to escape the bad weather. Once you’re out there, you might as well take the “beating”. :o )

  5. Gloomy weather well suited for a gloomy event. I visited my parents in Beamville to wait out the rain for 562 later in the afternoon.

It cleared up by then and lucky for me 562 had the engines

  6. Also it’s madness to shoot with that much rain, unless your cameras are under an umbrella.. I didn’t have one…. I should always have one.. but my kids steal it.

  7. Looking forward to seeing one of your photos of L562 with the units in tow.

  8. Arnold was first, he can have all the glory :)

  9. Yeah right, thanks. Your situation was so easy though…….the rain stopped everything cleared up. Mother Nature was getting back at me for something.:o(

  10. Us Niagara folks just love to go out on the worst day, eh? I got a nice week and a half long cold from shooting this bad boy
