Not sure if the CPR loco split the switch, ran through a switch or ignored a signal, but here's the aftermath of a derailed switcher based out of Oakville yard derailed at Chartwell Road. Back in those days you could get close without being chased away by the railway and local police. Taken from my fathers collection (slide)

  2. Great shot! Up close and personal for sure.
    That’s a very clean looking, maybe freshly painted 14 year old CN 50397 behind the CP 6704.
    CN 50397 is (was) an Industrial Brownhoist 250 ton capacity wrecker wearing serial number 12368. She was built in 1957.
    The last time I saw and photographed this crane while still in service was in Kamloops, BC on January 16, 2003, 32 years after the above photo was taken. :-)
