Nice pic! Any chance you got a better shot of that crane CP C-382 in the background?
This caboose may well be there at Galt for work service with the crane. I can’t recall what type of crane that is by the number, but back in 1982, cranes were operated as trains with a Conductor arranging track time, hence the need for a caboose. Now, this type of work is handled by track maintenance forces using “TOPs” (track occupancy permit). I worked several cranes the Wellman crane, a Burro crane, & a PYKE crane which looked just like a Burro.
Good morning RonaldB. Thanks for that info.
Let me know the CP running numbers of the cranes you once operated. I may have some photos you might be interested in.
I would also be interested in seeing any crane or MoW equipment photos you might care to share. – Paul
Thanks for all the additional info.
I will check to see if I got a shot of that crane. If I do I will scan it for posting.
Very much appreciated.
