Caption: Viewed from a water barrel platform on CN’s bridge over the Fraser River at Cisco on Saturday 1980-06-07 at 1804 PDT, VIA train No. 2 with ex CP 1409 + CP 8527 + ex CP 1425 (note both VIA units still in full CP Rail livery) is at CP milepost 101 just after crossing to the east bank of the Fraser from the west.
By no means do I intend to condone trespassing to obtain a photo. Just 3 minutes earlier, I was surprised by a westward CN train (visible in the distance above the bridge), and shaken like the dickens by vibration of the CN bridge. Today, a drone camera would be my vantage point of choice there.

The world has changed a little since then, and I can understand exactly why you did it. It’s a glorious shot.
But a great photo!! Glad you ventured to get it.
Very nice photo, great scene. Note the second car, all duplex roomettes, maybe a crew car ? Thanks for posting, glad you had the courage to venture out on to the water barrel platform, John
Wonderful scene, Ken. Thanks for sharing.
A great photo.
The CN “I” series cars spent a lot of their careers in crew dorm service. On the “Supercontinental”, they were handled at the very end of the train.
