In the first year after CN took over Northern Alberta Railways, visual changes were not dramatic, limited to CN numbers replacing the originals but NAR emblems and lettering (including locomotive names) remaining intact. Here is a GSL Turn from McLennan arriving at the former NAR/CN junction of Roma Jct., the south end of the Great Slave Lake line, at 1048 MDT on a smoky (distant forest fires) Friday 1981-09-18. SD38-2 units 5701, 5702 and 5700 are ex NAR 402, 403 and 401.

  1. Most excellent. Most shots in the transition era I see show the logos painted out.
