Caption: Decades before Waterloo Central or the ION light rail system, the future of the Waterloo Spur was the Waterloo-Jacobs Railway (WSJR). Once the calendars where changed to 1996, the investors of WSJR were in the process of constructing their new station near the intersection of Erb and Caroline Streets in downtown Waterloo, Ontario. In January 1996, this view shows their new train station during its construction on a sunny winter day. The sign in the background advertised WSJR coming in 1996, however it would be 1997 before the railway began tourist train operations on the spur.
