Caption: I have always been a fan of this tourist operation since it’s Waterloo & St. Jacob’s days. It was sad to watch the relocation of the St. Thomas Central considering the possibilities that could have been there, but the loss there was a big gain for St. Jacob’s. It is unfortunate that the ION has taken over the southern section of todays Waterloo Central forcing the operation to run only between St. Jacob’s and Elmira, nevertheless it is still a great little operation with some classic and attractive equipment. Slowly the recently acquired former VIA RDC’s are being reworked and repainted into the company’s attractive CP inspired paint scheme. My boys always love a trip to the tourist operation, which brings back fond memories of riding the “Polar Express “ a few years ago now. While it would have been nice to catch old ETR steamer #9 the day before this was definitely a nice consolation prize. The freshly painted “Dayliner” 9114 makes for a nice shot as it leads northbound with festive green markers lit as it prepares to cross highway 85 as it nears the North Pole, kind of, LOL. S13 1001 a former OSR, originally BC Rail/PGE unit pushes on the tail end.
