Caption: CN #1 The Super Continental has arrived in Jasper, AB on this frigid November day and is in the process of being fully serviced during this multi-hour station stop. New head-end crew, fuel, water, ice, and everything else that came with a division point stop back in the mid-1970's. From left to right in this photo there is so much to see. The CN Jasper station, a CN supply truck, a CN fuel truck and driver, baggage tug and attendant, CN 6513 GMD FP9A, vans, snowplows, white fleet units, Jasper Auxiliary cars, the CN roundhouse, and the mountains. One rule back then ... “Kindly flush toilet after each use except when train is standing in station.”

The firemen and engine-men ran like regular freight running crews, switching off at division points, Edmonton, Edson, Jasper, Blue River etc. The conductor and brake-men would run Edmonton to Blue River and back. It was a great run, I sure enjoyed it. This is surely how I remember Jasper. Thanks Paul.
Paul…interesting comment about the toilets…I spent a lot of time in India 2010-2020, and they still had that same rule on Passenger Trains…not that anyone obeyed it ????
Working on various tie, rail, & ballast renewal gangs in 1969 and through the 70′s it was quite common to come across splashes of ‘toilet debris’ along the tie ends. When standing at the side of the track when a passenger train went by you always stood well back and kept an eye out for ‘spray’ coming from the coaches!
Great photo. Were the ditch lights get added at Jasper? I see the nose of a unit sitting over in the yard behind that last van.
Not sure where the ditch light were added. My guess would be Edmonton. Hopefully our friend Brundle can provide some insight.
