CN 4725 and CN 4906 are tied down in BA52 with a good string of cars trailing. After the advance warning alerts, the Automatic Engine Shutdown/Start-up (AESS) aka Smart Start initiated the engine cranking sequence to get the prime mover going, with a short puff of exhaust, 4725 comes to life and a smooth idle.

  1. Love the “action” in this still shot.

  2. Very interesting, good picture, and informative caption. 4725 sure could use “a lick of paint”. We’re they then off to Caledonia ? Thanks for posting, John

  3. Thanks for the comments. After Via 73 departed I was wondering the platform. 4725 could definitely do with a coat of paint. No crew in sight when I departed at 1540h.
