After hearing the day before that South Simcoe Railway 136 was to have its potential last run that weekend, I made an effort to shoot this historic steamer on what could very well be its final trip north to Beeton. 136 needs a new boiler and unless $600,000 can be raised for the purchase, it will remain out of service and the diesel will be in charge of SSR operations.

  1. Owen, very nice picture, good to see 136 back in steam albeit for only a few days. That is distressing news about the cost of a new boiler. The SSR website has been silent about the future of 136. Wondering where you obtained the information about the boiler replacement and its cost. Thanks for posting, John

  2. Thanks! I got word from a fellow member of the CP MacTier Sub facebook group who is familiar with the area and operations. It is curious why they haven’t posted a GoFundMe on their website, I would donate if they did.
