Caption: It is evident that mid-afternoon westbound VIA #83 was on its' last legs. And yes, being a diminutive effort like shown here, today with VIA 6790 the power, it would be gone by 1988. I am sitting up on "perch" alongside the CN Dundas sub where I did spend some time.......definitely not as much time as I wanted (work got in the way) waiting for this train and hopefully the "Nanticoke" train with its A-B-A would show as well. (this day it was a GP-B-A). After looking over this shot I have to admit I am a bit pleased with myself that I no longer dared venture into that rather dangerous looking abandoned Canada Crushed Stone Conveyor that I thought was such a good photo angle. Heck, I very well might have not lived as long as I have. In the distance you can see eastbound VIA #74 behind VIA 6314. And now below me, unfortunately just out of sight on the bottom left, there is a crew taking up the old track that led down into Steetleys (dolomite) and a connection with the TH&B.
