Caption:
The prospect of taking an action photo of a MLW-built cab unit would usually get the adrenalin flowing, but quite the contrary on this occasion. It is 31 March 1989, and the last day VIA FPAs can lead passenger trains in Canada. An overcast sky and faint drizzle only add to the melancholy mood. Westbound VIA Train #83 passes with a pair of Montreal-built beauties on the point. An eastbound counterpart is led by a pair of the competitor's cab units. In a few short hours, the curtain will be drawn on a disappearing railroad scene, but for a brief moment FPA4s #6764 and 6780 are center stage.
