Looks to me that she was involved in a roll over at some time. If you look closly you’ll see the piston rod and the crosshead are bent down at an angle, the running boards are just about ripped off and the cab is split wide open on the front corner. Probably too much damage at that time to make repairs. Cheers.

The actual photos are 38mm x 61mm B&W positives on white print paper (there is a half inch white border around the 38×61 picture), just like a contact print of the negative. I’ve amazed myself how much my setup gets out these little photos. If the next one makes it through moderation, that will be about it. The rest are too underexposed or have blurr.
At Steamer – that is an excellent possibility. It would certainly explain much of the damage. That’s a white knuckle walkway now.
