Amazingly both 9011 and 9023 are still around on CP, great stuff!
I love this photo. It almost looks like a painting. I find the switchers ‘sprinkled’ in the consist to be interesting. Seems they’re being treated like boxcars. They don’t have self aligning couplers, so CP rules require them to be spliced into the middle of engine consists as opposed to trailing the larger units. I guess handling them this way obviates the inconvenience of placing them in the middle of the engine consists.
Further to my note, being slugs, are they missing MU jumper cable & hose connections? That would certainly preclude them from being placed anywhere in the power consist.
Thanks for the love Ron. The “slugs” I never had any experience with but I imagine they still had their MU cables and hoses in place. As far as I know they weren’t parted out during their storage period in Thunder Bay. It was the fact they didn’t have self aligning drawbars that caused them to be marshalled in train as opposed to forming part of the locomotive consist.
