Caption: Precisely fifty-one years ago today, on Saturday June 5th 1971, Canadian Forest Products operated their ALCo 2-8-2 locomotive 113 on passenger excursions on Vancouver Island in the Nimpkish Valley from Woss Camp to Woss Lake and return, in conjunction with a Loggers’ Sports Day. Just west of operating headquarters at Woss Camp, a combination rail-and-road bridge crossed the Nimpkish River, seen here with 113 and two caboose cars westbound two miles to Woss Lake.
This was quite early (only 18 years old) in my railway photography journey, and taken with a borrowed Voightlander rangefinder camera. To this day I remain surprised at how well it came out, my very first good train action photo.
