The Owen Sound to Toronto 'Moonlight' rolls south through the rolling countryside in Mount Forest. The Orangeville-Owen Sound section of track has been abandoned however townships along the route are still debating whether it is worth rebuilding the line, which would be part of the Orangeville and Brampton Railway

  1. What’s the number of the wooden van? Love the old branches

  2. If this is Mount Forest is this not the Teeswater branch?

  3. Wonderful shot, John. It typifies the quaint charm of branch line railroading that sadly, so many will never know firsthand.

  4. I really enjoy the southern Ontario branch lines. Thanks!

  5. This is not “in” Mount Forest, but if it were near Mount Forest, it would be just north of Sideroad 5 in Arthur Township, just south of where this line passes underneath Hwy 6. And if so, then this train is not “The Moonlight”. And also this would be the CP Teeswater Sub. But if this were “The Moonlight”, then this picture would have been taken somewhere between Fraxa Junction and Owen Sound on the CP Owen Sound Sub.
