The sun rises on the final day...
GMTX 333 has finished lifting the final 4 hoppers from industries in Orangeville and is seen making its way south towards the yard before they begin the trip southbound to Streetsville.

As of April 1st 2022, the tracks in this photo have been completely ripped up as the city of Orangeville wants a functional trail by summer 2022. I wish it was an April Fools joke. :(

  1. Very nice image! Such a shame and something that they will regret one day.

  2. The sun angle is perfect for lighting up the cab. :-)

  3. Functional rail trail? Cop out for real estate. Such a shame.

  4. Criminal that they allow these lines to be ripped up, especially so quickly

  5. Thank the Ontario Government’s Shortlone Railway Act amendments. 30 days and absolutely zero requirement to offer it to any other railway for continued operation

  6. Excellent image. Fitting you would do so well capturing this train on its final journey.

  7. Thanks for the kind words guys! I agree this decision is very short-sighted. Orangeville will feel the impact in terms of an average of 1400 trucks added to the roads each year.

  8. Is Gio still leasing that unit? And if so, have they kept the decal on the nose?

  9. I believe the unit is still sitting in Streetsville.

  10. I heard it came off lease shortly after the last train. I believe the decal is still on the front of the unit.
