Yes, Wolverton eliminated much of the mainline work at Finnegan and Galt for autos. Also eliminated the need for the Galt to Hagey turn and the Ham turn lifting the racks too.
However, there’s still some mainline trains that go up the Waterloo, 244′s can often be found going straight to Galt to set off on the Fergus for a Hagey yard job to grab. Guess it depends how hot the cars are.
It was nice when there was more activity in Galt and the old GRR yard but I can see why they had to expand Wolverton. Too much congestion in town.
This was a nice spot. Quiet countryside back then and one could just sit in the grass and enjoy life. Now, I would imagine the ticks would be out to enjoy you.
