Caption: Light snow falls at Don as CN S2 8136 works the P500 service track, shortly after meeting a southbound CP transfer freight lead by RSD17 8921 and caboose 438811 on the tail end. Note the sign on the old signalbridge: This is the northeasternmost point where the downtown Toronto Terminals Railway trackage begins/ends, at CP's Belleville Sub (Don Branch, left track) and CN's Bala Sub (center track). CP and CN interchanged cars further south at their Cherry Street yards. The old S. Today's consist is a CP 50' boxcar (42526, assigned auto parts service), a BASF Wyandotte chemical tank car, a green CPI 85000-series newsprint service boxcar, a pair of tanks, and an old steel CN ice reefer. CN S2 8136, built by MLW in 1949, was one of the handful of yard units assigned out of Spadina Roundhouse for local and switching dutes, and would be retired a few months later in October.
