TEE time at Oriole.

And like most passenger equipment of that time – recycled.

This one recycled from Europe courtesy the Ontario Government.

A northbound CN transfer holds the main as the Northlander powered by the 1957 built Werkspoor 'TEE' renumbered ONR 1983 (ex 1903) rolls through on the siding non stop to Union.

ONR 122 at CN Oriole May 6, 1979 Kodachrome by S.Danko.

Near the Junction of the former CNoR branch to Leaside – Mile 10.9 Bala Subdivision. The switch to the CNoR aka CN Leaside Branch was from the Oriole service track ( behind the photographer) westward to CP Rail Donlands on the Belleville subdivision.

note: GO Oriole is at mile 12.1 Bala Subdivision

  1. The Leaside Branch was worked by KO10. Take the branch to CP, and grovel to the CP dispatcher for a chance to cross the bridge to go and work….and each lunch…..and come back just in time to be in the way of the GO trains, and get overtime. Except on Fridays :)

  2. At one time, (the seventies?) a CN SW was assigned and remained at CN Leaside. The CN would depart/arrive evenings.

  3. Great photo of the ONR T and CN “Piggyback” service, I always enjoy looking at these photos, they bring back some great memories.

Lots to see in this photo looking south toward the south switch at Oriole, with the York Mills Road overpass in the background. Amazing how you could see the right of way back to the fence line, not anymore.

Operating on the Main Track, the ONR T looks to be in “Pull Mode” with the 1983 leading, as both the headlight and ditch lights appear to be on full power. Could this be northbound ONR Train 123?
