Being born in the mid 1970’s the first CP paint scheme I remember was action red. Nevertheless I always wished I could have photographed the maroon and grey era, especially scripted lettering. When CP released the heritage SD70ACU’s I was definitely hooked. Thanks to Athearn and it’s HO scale SD70ACU’s 7010 is now my favourite cp unit. I miss the old SD90 fleet but thanks to the SD70ACU program those unwanted units have received a second life, with some modifications. With word this day that 246 had 7010 in the lead it was enough to get me trackside. Thinking I would try a new spot this day I began my hike across a farmers field between ninth line and highway 407. Unfortunately I didn’t realize there was a small stream running under the snow and ice halfway across the field. It wasn’t long before I found myself through the ice in a foot and a half of water. I quickly abandoned that plan and sloshed my way back to the car and a more traditional shot several feet from the car. In the end the wet foot was worth it and the clouds cleared just in time for the train. Here 246 is seen rolling along the hydro corridor just west of Lisgar ago station.
