Caption: Late in the day on a UCRS trip, a trio of RDCs (CN 6116, CN 6003, CN 6120) are seen moving away from the photographer during a photo run by on the Drumbo sub at Bright. The trip ran from Toronto - London via the Oakville and Dundas subdivisions to reach the GMD plant for a tour. Following the tour, the trip departed London for Hyde Park, taking the Exeter Sub north to Clinton and on to Goderich. Returning to Stratford, via the Drumbo sub to Paris, and back to Toronto.

Man by 1975 this line was lucky to have a train a week. Like 50 to 150 cars a year.
How many crew would have manned this train? As in how many crew changes were needed to cover the territory?
Thanks to Dan Dell’Unto for helping with the location. Great scene Bruce. Not many shots here from the Drumbo Sub.
I think it was a crew of 3. I think there were no crew changes. I think if I am not mistaken on this trip we were going up the Dundas hill at roughly 90 miles per and one engine was cut out.
Wild to think they were probably qualified for all of it, given how passenger trains operated from Toronto to Goderich it’s certainly very possible. It wasn’t too long before all those trains ran.
Thanks Bruce – a wonderful shot. I’ve been here many times…. without any sign of the rails
A very historic photo.
I was on a westbound CP train not long before the CN Drumbo Sub was abandoned & a CN train was waiting for us to pass at the diamond in Drumbo. It was comprised of an SW1200RS, a caboose & a business car, they were headed for Stratford. By that point, all CN trains had to stop & flag the diamond before crossing CP. In the years before, from the time I started on CP in 1973, it was an automatic interlocking.
